Welcome to Clay-Union Electric

On November 25, 1935, 17 area men met in Burbank to organize the first rural electric cooperative in South Dakota. This organization was known as Fairview Electric Association and was later renamed Clay-Union Electric. For over 80 years, Clay-Union Electric has been providing excellent customer service and reliable, cost efficient electricity to our members. Our cooperative is owned by those we serve.

Please look around and discover all the things your coop has to offer. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact us.

The Clay-Union Electric Board of Directors has approved a rate increase that will go into effect May 1, 2017. A notice to all members will be included in your March billing statement that you will be receiving by April 10, 2017. Also, please refer to the link below for additional question and answers.

Why We Need a Rate Increase

Facility Charge

Occasionally we get asked, 'What is the Facilities Charge/Monthly Minimum?'. Although it is called a 'Service Charge' in this video, this explains what it is and why it is needed.
